  141.     As promised, I have a few statistics for you this week. You can see
  142.     that, in the Top 100, a new column has been added to the right of the
  143.     list. It contains for each game the number of points the game got from
  144.     e-mail and News traffic. Interpreting these points requires some
  145.     understanding of how the chart is compiled. You can see that the games
  146.     that have the most points are not necessarily the ones at the top.
  147.     Ultima Underworld 2 for example, got 82 points this week. This amount
  148.     allowed the game make an enormous jump from 31 to 14. The games above
  149.     have less points, so it can be expected that UW2 will penetrate deep
  150.     into the top 10 next week. Especially when you consider that the
  151.     support for this game has increased at a rate of 20 points every week.
  152.     UW2 can easily hit the top 3 in several weeks, or even be a new number
  153.     one. The support for Civilization and UW1 is dropping, so this
  154.     shouldn't be too hard.

  156.     There is a difference between e-mail points and News points. You can
  157.     see this when you look at Laura Bow 2 at number 31 and Quest for
  158.     Glory 3 at number 32. QFG3 drops faster than LB2, even when LB2 has
  159.     one point less and, logically, should be the one dropping faster. This
  160.     is because LB2 got the points via e-mail and QFG3 got it from
  161.     measuring the News traffic. The votes sent by e-mail have a much
  162.     higher weight (in a 4 to 1 ratio), so LB2's points are worth more.
  163.     Take this into account when studying the numbers.
  164.  
  165.     Below you can find a table with figures concerning the number of
  166.     voters. On the first row you can find the number of voters that were
  167.     added to our database since the beginning. The second row shows the
  168.     number of e-mail messages used in every week. This number increased
  169.     the first four weeks, since votes are used for four weeks in a row.
  170.     The third row shows for each week how many people sent us new votes.
  171.     The last row shows the number of people who never voted before. When
  172.     starting this chart we hoped to have around 100 voters after 4 weeks.
  173.     It appears we have achieved this goal. It's great. We now hope that
  174.     the number of messages with new votes per week keeps being 30 or more.
  175.     You could help us with that by promoting the chart among friends and
  176.     colleagues or just by pinning the chart on a strategic location in
  177.     your building.
